Patricia Gärtner - Creator
Four generation of jewelers began in Colombia with our native-Italian great grandmother, Angelina Negrelli, who emigrate from Sapri Salerno Italy, she knew how to handcraft silverware and started making some jewelry pieces combining her talented ideas; while staying in Colombia, she felt in love and married, and passed her tradition to her generations.
Patricia Gartner, a fourth-generation jeweler, learned her craft form her father, Alfonso Suarez, with whom she co-founded a company that designs and creates fine handcrafted jewelry.
Gartner received a degree with honor in Jewelry Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). As a student she also supervised FIT’s jewelry department labs, overseeing the safety of jewelry manufacturing procedures. After graduation, she worked as a diamond grader at the International Gemological Institute (IGI), as well as on a contract basis for such jewelry designers as David Yurman. Gartner worked with the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) as a Jewelry Design Instructor from 2006 to 2012. During that time, she completed her Graduate Gemologist (GG), as well as others courses such as Accredited Jewelry Professional (AJP), Graduate Diamonds, Pearl grading, Pearl and Bead stringing, working with wax, and CAD/CAM for jewelry.
Gartner hopes to communicate an appreciation for the richness and timeless pleasure of nature. It is important to take time to dream, conceive, and create; after all, it is nature that truly connects us as human beings. Everything is connected in an ongoing flow of ideas, responses to the past, and voices toward the future. She believes human nature drives us to be connected from our creation- to family and friends,or to a belief system. Indeed, jewelry continues to be passed down and exchanged today in the form of family heirlooms or tokens of appreciation, which satisfy our desire to be connected.
